Whoa! Hyper-leftist Democrat Jason Alexander stumbles into a libertarian position on funding of the Arts

From Eric Dondero:

Believe it! Jason Alexander, aka George Costanza of Seinfeld actually took a libertarian view on an issue. All the more unbelievable, given his past Obama-mania, and contributions to various Democrat candidates and causes. And on an issue that's right up his alley, no less.

From a recent interview with "FOX411 at last week’s Annual Simply Shakespeare event at the Broad Stage, Santa Monica" via Fox News, "Jason Alexander: A 'Seinfeld' movie? Are you kidding me?":
“Clearly, we are in a financial crisis in this country so you want to spend money where it is going to make sense. Do people absolutely need the arts to get by day-to-day? You can make that claim but they also really need a lot of things before that,” he said. “I would love to see more funding for the arts but I think the community to which it serves should sponsor. There are tax payers in this country that never go to the theater, that never read a book or poetry or go to a museum and their tax dollars are being spent on the arts…. I could make the argument either way. I’m glad I’m not the guy who has to figure it out."
Editor's comment - All these '90's actors going libertarian/conservative, first Victoria Jackson and Dennis Miller of SNL, actress Stacy Dash, man-ster Adam Carolla, last week comedian Rob Schneider, and now Alexander, at least on this one issue? Perhaps the implosion of the once great State of California is making them all think twice about the failings of socialism and gov't control.

He was brilliant in "Seinfeld", but I've read entirely too much bullshit from him to believe that he even understands what he said here. What he said, he said accidentally, got words mixed up.

Jerry, it could be the beginnings of a transformation.

Remember there was a time that Dennis Miller could have been considered a hard lefty, and look at him today.

Ditto Adam Carolla. If you had talked politics with Carolla ten years ago??? You would have screamed at his leftist insanity.

Maybe. Had a Twitter fight with him once, and he did nothing but repeat talking points. Dumb as a stone.

Why am I supposed to care what some washed up actor thinks about politics? Let's dig up somebody from Reno 911...or Chicago Hope!...or Hill Street Blues.

It's a fool's errand. Chasing celebrity support isn't a winning strategy. Everyone wants to be a celebrity, but few would want one of their children to live that life.
