Washington State Republicans find themselves in a bit of a pickle after state board meets to elect a new chair

From Eric Dondero:

Interesting, and rather amusing situation developing with the Washington State Republican Party. Former Chair Kirby Wilbur resigned weeks ago, amid allegations of financial mismanagement. He was from the religious conservative wing of the GOP.  So, the governing board met to elect a new chairman. Four candidates ran for the seat.

When it was all said and done, the winner was Susan Huthcison, a dynamic former local TV news anchor. Ms. Hutchison has an extensive background in running large charitable organizations in the Seattle area.

Only one problem: Washington State law requires that the State Chair and Vice-chair of major political parties be of opposite genders. And the current vice-chair is a woman, Luanne Van Werven (photo below). Attorneys for the state party are now being consulted.

The Republican Party of Washington State with a female Chair and Vice-Chair.  Never happened before.

Note to Democrats, how's that "Republicans' war on women" line of attack working out for ya?
