This is why we here at Libertarian Republican are not conservatives

by Eric Dondero

Ahh, geez. This is hugely dissapointing. We libertarians agree with our conservative friends, even the social conservatives, more often than not. We're in the trenches with them most of the time fighting those dastardly liberals, socialists and communists.

And then there are times they just absolutely make us cringe.

From the BBC, "Pope's new year address deplores rampant capitalism":
Pope Benedict XVI has condemned "unregulated capitalism" for contributing to world tension, in a new year address to worshippers.

Those "hotbeds" also grew out of "the prevalence of a selfish and individualistic mindset which also finds expression in an unregulated financial capitalism", as well as "various forms of terrorism and crime", he said.
Yup, Huffo, Reuters, and the BBC are just lovin' life over the Pope's comments. He fed right into their hands.

And we libertarians will remember this next time the Catholics are asking for help to fight so-and-so administration against mandated coverage of birth control or abortion.

Not that we won't oppose such mandates. Just maybe with a little less gusto.

So we're going to paint Catholics as no good because of the words of an octogenarian head of the church who used to cover up sexual abuse of little boys?

He paints the entire Muslim faith as no good because of 20 guys. No surprises here.
