Complete Republican sweep
by Clifford F. Thies
Republicans won all four special elections on January 8th. In these special elections, all candidates run against each other like in Louisiana's "jungle primary," with a run-off election between the top two if nobody receives at least fifty percent. Totaling the votes of all the Republican candidates, Republicans averaged 92.45 percent of the vote. They won two of the races outright, and placed both of the candidates into each of the two run-off elections.
Not quite 100 percent of the vote as in certain precincts in Cleveland and Philadelphia, but not too shabby.
