Democrat-Republican-Libertarian fusion candidate in L.A.?

From Eric Dondero:

He's Democrat on women's issues, pro-choice, pro-equal pay. He's Republican in the Dick Riordon mode on fiscal matters, fiercely in favor of city-wide pension reform. He's Libertarian on medical marijuana, a staunch activist for keeping the medical dispensaries open throughout Los Angeles. Though, he's got a bit of a conservative streak, wanting to keep the marijuana stores over 1,000 feet away from public schools, parks and recreation centers.

Meet Mark Herd. Candidate for Los Angeles City Council, District 5 (Westwood, near UCLA). He is currently in his second term on the Westwood Neighborhood Council. He will be running against incumbent Paul Koretz, a big tax and spend Democrat who opposes any pension reform.

Los Angeles faces a serious bankruptcy if the pension issues are not addressed. The percentage of the city budget that the pensions eat up each year will increase from 10% in the current to a projected 25% by 2017 according to some analysts.
