Concealed carry legalization only solution to stopping mass gun violence

Liberals don't like guns, especially guns carried by white guys

From John McAdams, Marquette Univ., Marquette Warrior blog, "Liberals Try to Exploit Connecticut School Shooting":
This horrible shooting, like all the similar ones in memory, was the result of a deranged individual who had apparently planned, schemed and prepared for the deed. These were not spur of the moments shootings with guns that happened to be lying around.

In fact there is good social science evidence about what will deter these kinds of shootings, and reduce the casualties when they happen. But the policy is something liberals don’t like: concealed carry laws.

The demand for gun control by liberals is not based on sound policy reasoning, but rather on cultural bias. Liberals don’t like guns, especially guns carried by white guys who live in rural areas, drive pickup trucks, listen to country music and shop at Wal-Mart. These are the guns they particularly want to take. The guns of Republican-voting suburbanites would be nice to take too.
From the Heartland Institute - John McAdams has a Ph.D. degree in Political Science from Harvard University, and is Associate Professor of Political Science at Marquette University. He has published in a wide variety of professional journals, including the American Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Politics, Law and Contemporary Problems and Sociological Quarterly..

At least this article has some credibility.

Wondering how all those liberal hunters view the article. The ones that have been hunting and target shooting for years, and shop Wal Mart frequently. Betcha there even liberals who own pick up trucks.

Unfortunately it seems agenda driven ideology will continue to cloud judgement on both sides.

Les, alas, you showed up again today. My gosh, are you fucking addicted to this website?

Nope, just amused by the absurd. That and I try to never miss the opportunity to push back just a bit against the absurd.

20 kids are dead because a crazy person had a gun. That is not okay.

The Right Guy said...

it's not ok and I blogged about it here: http://www.therightguyshow.com/

Erich Domdero said...

So we should try and prevent it. By making sure crazy people can't get m4s.

The Right Guy said...

Or any other gun, but factually speaking, Lanza didn't use a M4 or AR15. He did use a Glock and Sig Sauer pistols.

Erich Domdero said...

That has yet to be determined.

The Right Guy said...

It has

Erich Domdero said...

Hasn't.

Has:

Authorities found at least three guns at the scene, including a Glock 9mm and a Sig Sauer 9mm — both pistols. Also found was a Bushmaster .223 assault rifle, which was discovered in a nearby car.

This article, like all of the ones on this site, is roughly 100 percent wrong. Allow me to explain some basic things to you:

If gun control laws were a little stricter, like say, keeping better tabs on who is buying what and under what circumstances and maybe, I dunno, checking up on the mental health of people who own guns, then things like this could have been avoided. Yes, this was a planned thing, but that still means he had to buy the gun. Hence, if someone had given this guy a mental health checkup when he bought it and found out he was fucking crazy, then maybe this could have been avoided.

Secondly, concealed weapons laws would not prevent things like this, and if anything would make them worse. In order to stop someone from doing something like this, with a gun, you have to hit a single person, amidst a crowd, when everyone around you is running and panicking. You are much more likely to hit someone in the crowd than you are to hit the shooter, and even if you hit the shooter, they are often wearing body armor.

Thirdly, you say the demand for gun control is based on cultural bias (ignoring, for the moment, that it could help prevent things like this). Well to quote Hunter Thompson, fuck you, that wisdom cuts both ways. The only reason conservatives are obsessed with keeping guns from being controlled is because the culture in certain parts of the country is still under the impression that it's reasonable for everyone to be armed with anything they can get their hands on. This belief is a backwards thinking throwback to the frontier days, but in case you haven't noticed, we've moved a bit on from those days and the culture needs to respond accordingly. And for the record, the only reason Libertarians are obsessed with keeping guns from being controlled is because they are laboring under the delusion that any form of government intervention or assistance is bad.

And while I'm not in the mood to go and comment on all of your articles on this subject (which is a sore enough subject already, given that 90 percent of my family and the majority of my friends live in Connecticut), conflating the shooter with the goth subculture and video games not only makes you look backwards and stupid, but also petty and mean.

I like to wait and get the whole story without jumping to conclusions. I know that sounds crazy.

"This belief is a backwards thinking throwback to the frontier days"

Which is, of course, exactly what you shit-eating maggots say about the entire US Constitution. (except the rights that aren't in it. You scum are all about the Constitutional rights that aren't in the Constitution)

Erich Domdero said...

You are easily the worst debater ever. Cunt scum fuck subhuman maggot shit!

The Right Guy said...

They champion the 1st amendment as if none of the others exist.

Jemas said...

Ah, the old ad hominem. You called me a shit eating maggot, so therefore you must be correct.

No, I do not believe the entire constitution is a backwards throwback to the frontier days. But hey, what do you care what I actually believe. If you can just subscribe an opinion to me, you can argue with that, instead of arguing with what I do believe.

Now then, I believe I typed 4 full paragraphs, and you responded to 1 sentence, out of context. Care to respond to the rest, or tacitly admit everything I said is true?
