Maine Republican Senate candidate resists Ron Paul follower's Pro-Surrender agenda

Waving the White flag to Islamism not in the cards for Navy Reserve officer

by Eric Dondero

With Islamists attacking the West on all fronts, and even encroaching into our own shores here in the U.S., Ron Paul followers are still pushing a stridently pull-back, isolationist agenda.

But at the risk of losing their support, at least one Repubilcan nominee for US Senate is not about to toe their line.

From HispanicBusiness.com, "Tea Party Tepid on Charlie Summer":
While Summers has the vote of Eric Brakey, the former Maine state director for Paul's campaign said he'd be more excited about the Republican Senate candidate if he supported a full audit of the Federal Reserve and favored bringing all U.S. troops home from overseas.

"We're not judging Charlie Summers based on his personality," Brakey said. "We're judging him on the issues. If he does come and meet us on those issues, I would be happy to support him."

Summers said he's open to a full audit of the Federal Reserve, a move supported by Paul as a way to bring more transparency to the country's monetary policy. But he said job creation and government spending come first on his agenda.

"Once we tackle those issues, I think we move to No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, on down the line," he said. "There's obviously a myriad of issues and concerns to deal with."

But bringing all U.S. troops home from overseas assignments is a separate matter, said Summers, who serves in the U.S. Navy Reserve and has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

"It's easy to say, 'Let's bring all the troops home,'" he said. "It's a much different thing to actually effect that and do it in a way that doesn't jeopardize our national security interests."
Bottom line: there are many more pro-military voters in Maine; blue collar guys, who support a Reaganesque strong on the military foreign policy. Think your average shipyard worker in Bath, or your patriotic American flag-waving lumber industry worker in Bangor. Better to aim for their votes, rather than the appeasement crowd.

Another posting by Eric that gets no response...

Remember how Eric touted the ranking of this site at "toplibertarian.com"
recently?

This site has slid from 52 to 62 in ranking AND antiwar.com has moved up to #8 and of course lewrockwell.com is still first.

All of the Ron Paul sites are far ahead of this site, too.

NOTICE TO LR READERS:

This is an entirely volunteer website. We receive no funding from Saudi Arabia. We receive no money from radical Islamist interests.

Our danger is Catholicism, from south of the border. In Europe, since the self-imposed dismantling of Western Protestantism especially, and broadly all of the area... Islam will conquer, the atheist post-Counterculture. Not that any god will do; but that humanity will find a way.

We remember how Alan called for war against Israel on behalf of "Palestinians." So brave. For liberty, of course.

Which side do you think Alan will sign-up for... PLO? Hamas? Fatah? So brave, so committed to "liberty," our little Alan.

Which reminds me, Eric... where is his website in the rankings?

Oh, and by the way, being distanced from the wackjobs "higher" in the rankings is no great shame. Do you really want to compete with Lew Rockwell? To be a popular moron is no great accomplishment.

Good post about Charlie Summer. Don't be shocked to find that Teapers support him more broadly than claimed.

Why would tea party/liberty types support Summers? I mean the guy is a male Snowe and backed by her. The guy actively disenfranchised people by being part of the effort to do away with same day voting (which the voters restored in a referendum). Look into his record... it is not pretty... he is a statist establishment RINO.

What you miss Andrew, and you know I luv ya man, is that some of us who are Veterans respect his military service, and to me foreign policy and fighting Islamism is the Number One issue today. And Summers is good on fighting Islam.

Well, at last Andrew explained the tepid Tea support. (Thanks.)

Yeah, I'm not auto gung-ho on a Vet simply because he's "good on fighting islamism." Using the military - not to win a war - but as a means of playing pork barrel at home is one of the grosser Statist abuses imaginable. RINOs will do that.
