Surprise! New study finds homely women prefer career over marriage

Study done in the UK, but might have some applicability here in the US?

From the UK Daily Mail, "Do girls only want a career because they can't attract a man? Provocative study casts high fliers in a new light"
Forget ambition, financial security and that first-class degree.

A controversial study has concluded that the real reason women pursue careers is because they fear they are too unattractive to get married.

The research team, made up of three women and two men, said that when men are thin on the ground, 'women are more likely to choose briefcase over baby'.

And the plainer a woman is, they claim, the more she is driven to succeed in the workplace.

Central to their argument was the idea that women have evolved to become homemakers and men, providers.

They said this means that when men are scarce in a particular area, women, and particularly less attractive ladies, may decide they need to provide for themselves with a well-paid career...

They were also asked how attractive they believed themselves to be to men.

Those women who saw themselves as being less desirable than average were highly likely to be career-orientated.

The study, which was carried out by U.S. and Dutch researchers, is published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
Editor's comment - It could also explain why so many attractive Republican ladies have such a hard time balancing home life and political careers, while so many Democrat women don't seem to have such problems. And of course, why these homely women absolutely despise the good-lookin' gals.

Bbbbbut homely women prefer to stay at home. Right? Babes go out where babeness counts? No?

The world is so upside down.

Some women like to work outside the home. Marriage isn't an impediment.

Heh! RG, my pulchritudinous wife earns more as an exec than yours truly. (sigh)

The world is SO upside down.

Me too. That's why we are moving. She's moving up as I move...No where except geographically. At least the weather will be better. No more cold, snow and ice.

We home school, so my wife has the most important job on earth. She's also too pretty to be out of the house much. The world doesn't deserve to look at her.

"We home school, so my wife has the most important job on earth." Amen to that!

The next thing we'll hear is that Chuck's wife will be on the Housewives of Atlanta. I can just see Chuck on the show spouting his wisdom. It would be worth at least 3 nielsen points.

It depends on the psychology of the girl and environment in which she grew up. In my view,
now-a-days women are capable of managing profession and as well as family. careers
