Gay Sex Scandal threatens to cast a shadow over Democrat National Convention in North Carolina

"If this hits the media, the Democratic Party, our candidates, and our credibility are doomed in this election" -- NC Democrat leader

As late as Monday, North Carolina Democrat Executive Director Jay Parmley was pumping up the Democrat National Convention, scheduled for Charlotte.

From WRAL.com, "Party faithful campaigning to be convention delegates":
North Carolina Democratic Party executive director Jay Parmley said Monday that a trip to a convention is the ultimate reward for longtime volunteers.

"For these party activists, it's the pinnacle of their success and their career in politics, so to speak, Parmley said.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled for Sept. 4-6 in Charlotte. Ninety-three of the 158 North Carolina delegates at the convention will be elected by fellow Democrats in their congressional districts, with most others elected statewide.
And then late Thursday this story broke, from the Beaufort Observer, "N. C. Democrat Party embroiled in a gay sexual harassment scandal and coverup":
Matthew Boyle of the Daily Caller is reporting:
A former North Carolina Democratic Party staffer was sexually harassed by a party official, made a financial settlement with the party and signed a non-disclosure agreement to keep the incident quiet.

"If this hits the media, the Democratic Party, our candidates, and our credibility are doomed in this election," reads one email exchange between state Democratic leaders.

An email chain between those Democratic leaders, obtained by The Daily Caller, indicates the executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Jay Parmley, and the alleged sexual harassment victim both signed non-disclosure agreements.

President Obama's re-election team views North Carolina as an important state in the president's campaign and Charlotte, N.C. is the site of this year's Democratic National Convention.
For Republicans, this may serve as a bit of sweet revenge. Parmley is known as one of the most vicious and nasty partisans in the State. (One of his attack ads above.)
