Lady Gaga a Libertarian Hawk?

Self-proclaimed "Machiavellian"

From Eric Dondero:

Known for her extreme libertine views on social matters, Lady Gaga has now come out of the closet as a military hawk.

From Forbes this morning:
Lady Gaga, the music industry phenomenon, is surprisingly hawkish in her views on foreign policy. In an exclusive interview, at a cafĂ© around the corner from her parents’ Upper West Side apartment, she laments what she terms “the pathetic U.S. policy on Iran.”
“They support terrorist groups, ferment trouble in Iraq, and are building a nuclear bomb. And what do we do? Nothing. Not that we do anything about North Korea either. Why are we so spineless?”
She goes on to add:
Influential liberals like Alec Baldwin may want you to think that celebrities are liberals, but I get a big crowd at my monthly [Prussian War General] Carl von Clausewitz reading group.”
And stunningly she takes a jab at the Queen of Celebrity Liberals:
Interviewer:“Oprah? But she’s a well-known supporter of President Obama.”

Gaga's response: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” Gaga replies, “Have you not read Machiavelli?”
Though, admittedly little if anything is known about her economic views, allowing herself to be interviewed by the economic libertarian publication Forbes sends a good signal.

There is no such thing as a libertarian hawk.

Libertarianism still equals non-interventionism in foreign policy.

The history of this movement of ours supports the foregoing.

That brother Eric has to reach...as in stretch...down to Lady Gaga to find an advocate is telling [it's also funny].

Did she say anything about Libya? or Iraq? or Afghanistan? or Yemen? or maintaining NATO ties or troops in south Korea?

No, that would be beyond her ken. So to was her remarks about Iran.

"President" Achmedinejad [sp?] is being called into the Iranian parliament [the Majlis] to answer questions on another recent foreign policy issue.

The governing faction in Iran is split. Inflation is high in Iran & there are fuel shortages...folks in Iran have to line up for gas, diesal, etc.

More than half of the population was born well after the ouster of the US client ruler the Shah.

The populace is not behind the government and Iranians do have both a popular memory of & recently taught history of revolution.

Iran, sans USG interference, will sort this out. The last thing the USG needs to be doing, broke as it is, is interfering there.

But Lady Gaga knows different? That is what Eric says we should heed.

It's just inspiring to me to see how the liberventionists reach to the absurd constantly to justify their beliefs.

yours for liberty

Alan Turin

PS

What the hell: Ron Paul is in fourth place in Iowa polls, 3rd in Oregon.

Wow. Machiavelli. This gal has something serious going on upstairs. There is brain activity. Who would have thought it.

I disagree with her about Iran. Iraq and Afghanistan are massive Clusterfucks. To get any nukes you would have to invade Iran. So take the Iraq-Afghanistan Clusterfuck times ten.

It would be a nightmare.

"Libertarianism still equals non-interventionism in foreign policy." Until it does *not.*

Libertarianism is uniquely concerned with the freedoms and responsibilities of the individual. It is thus neutral on issues of foreign policy - a purely statist matter. There are Libertarians on either side of the question; no one side may claim it as theirs, not without sounding like a total ignoramus.

It would help your case greatly if you would bother to read a bit more, you vacuous fucking dip-shit.

That girl has the cutest ass... I could lose my tongue in there!

She's Italian so I would think her hawkish views wouldn't be surprising. It's a stereotype I've found true...

Fun joke Eric! I just read the Forbes piece with the "fabricated" article. Great laughs :-) I still stand by my comment about her ass though!

I guess I'm behind the curve here, seeing that music for me is listening to a range from Hank Garland, John Coltrane, bossa nova to prog rock. So other than seeing this gal's name on the internet, I haven't a clue about who she is or her music. Back in my day, though, gaga was the gibberish that came out of infants mouths, before saying mommy, or daddy.
