RLC on Debt Ceiling Vote in House

by Dave Nalle

The House of Representatives is voting on whether or not to raise the debt ceiling this week. Republican leaders plan to oppose this increase, but they need all the support they can get and as many votes as possible on board for fiscal responsibility.

Voters are looking towards 2012 and fiscal responsibility and keeping our national debt under control are your top priorities.

The idea that we would consider increasing our national debt beyond the current $14.3 trillion is irresponsible and downright frightening. We need to learn to control spending and we need to start now. No more blank checks for bureaucrats and pork projects. Let's draw a line in the sand and tell them we've had enough.

Right now we owe $50,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States. That's completely unsustainable. Let's end the War on Drugs and end the War on Terror and make some serious cuts in discretionary spending. The first step to doing that is just to stop the spending. Then Sen. Rand Paul (RLC-KY) and Sen. Pat Toomey (RLC-PA) have both offered superior plans for balancing the budget and we should move forward with their ideas.

Brother Nalle is, of course, correct. Happily there is an upside to NOT raising the debt ceiling: default!

The federales are akin to one earning $50,000 a year but spends with credit cards $96,000 and already has $366,000 on the cards unpaid balance.

Having the cards "deny transaction" stops the madness.

The USG borrows 42 cents of every dollar spent. If the USG were to default, interest rates would rise [they are being artificially held down by the fed] and the USG would be forced within a 90 day period [30-day to 90 day T-bills] to cut spending and LOST the ability to borrow.

A win for liberty.

PS

Eric, he said "end the war on terror" to achieve this. It's refreshing when you promote a libertarian message.

Of course we can end the war on terror at any time.

But what if the jihadis want to keep fighting?

You know what this current crowd of GOP liars want is to turn the United Sates into China, where only a few giant corporations run things, they own the factories, that apartments, the grocery stores, the gas stations, the newspaper and magazine publications, the radio stations, the television stations and you pay them and they get all the benefits, and if you do not like it go jump off cliff. Well some Chinese workers seeing that as individuals that they cannot progress have done just that by committing suicide. The current crowd of GOP liars want to abolish Medicare from the elderly, they want to abolish a woman’s right to choose and have control over her own body, they want to abolish collective bargaining rights, and on top of it all they want to blame the poor, the middle class and the public sector workers for a recession that the GOP created, while their beloved “Fat cats” continue to pay themselves exorbitant salaries, bonuses, fringe benefits. Yes this is the GOP “Radical Right-Wing Social Engineering” that they dream about. The win in New York was the beginning but the next will be Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and later the other states of our nation.

That'll do, pig.

I want to end the War on Terror and start a new War on Islamism. So, I agree with Dave.
