NeoCon Karl Rove blasts libertarian Republican Donald Trump over Birth Certificate stance

He's increasingly "marginalized"

From Eric Dondero:

Both Donald Trump and Karl Rove appeared on O'Reilly last night. Trump pronounced his view that Obama needs to show his birth certificate. After his appearance Rove slammed him over his stance, implying that it's a minority view within the GOP.

Via BusinessInsider.com:
"The right wing base of the Republican party, I'm part of that right wing base, is not in love with the issue of birthers. I mean, there is an element inside the Republican party, and outside the Republican party, that's fallen in love with this but the majority of Republicans and the vast majority of Americans accept is he a U.S. citizen capable of being president.

You know, the troubling thing in the interview tonight was he said as time has gone on here, over the last couple of weeks, he has become more interested and more believing in the issue. You know, when he first brought it up, he said 'of course I accept that he's a citizen. He ought to just release the, release his birth certificate.' Different tone tonight. This is a mistake. It will marginalize him and he's falling into Barack Obama's trap. Barack Obama wants Republicans to fall into this trap because he knows it discredits us with the vast majority of the American people when they do."
42% of Americans now want Obama to prove his eligibility

Yet another survey has come out showing that a majority of Americans want Obama to show his birth certificate.

From Wentzel Strategies, (via WND):
"Half of those surveyed said they believe these questions about Obama's legitimacy as president are either troubling or should be satisfied by Obama. In fact, more people want Obama to prove his legitimacy – 42 percent – than believe that the lingering questions are not valid – 32 percent," Wenzel said.

The survey showed 41.9 percent say Obama should prove his birth story, including 60.9 percent of independents, 58.6 percent of Republicans and 13.2 percent of Democrats.

Another 7.9 percent say the questions are troubling.

Only 26 percent strongly opposed the release of the records. Nearly 50 percent strongly favored release and another 17 percent said the president should release the records.
The poll was conducted March 15 - 17 with "1,095 respondents, was conducted March 15-17 and carries a confidence interval of 95 percent and a margin of error of +/- 2.93 percentage points."

I saw the Great Whore Rove interviewed on Fox. He called himself a strong Conservative. How very true. Consvervatives worship at the throne of Big Brother Government.

So naturally Rove would attack anyone looking Libertarian.

Not quite, gary. Think for a minute. (Hell, make it two:) True, Rove calls himself a Conservative but note, you call yourself a libertarian. Consider: Because Rove rather behaves like a statist RINO, are we to conclude that all libertarians are vacuous morons?

Rove is hardly the spokesman for the conservative movement, let alone for the emerging libertarian-conservative coalition. Sadly for Rove, he's the go-to guy these days *only* for statists and liberals. His currency doesn't buy much in conservative circles today, especially since he blew it big-time in Delaware. Poor Karl has a credibility problem that won't be quick to fix.

Which brings us to the point of the article: It is deliciously ironic that Rove should be so concerned for Trump's credibility. If I were Donald, I'd pour a double single-malt and salute poor Rove.

Not apropos of his ideology, but it's amazing how quickly and easily a guy who's played key roles in so many Republican victories -- not just Reagan/Bush 1984 and Bush 2000 and 2004, but Phil Gramm, the first Republican Alabama Supreme Court justices since Reconstruction, the first Republican Chief Justice of Texas ever, the first Republican governor of Texas in more than 100 years, etc. -- can get thrown under the bus.

You use libertarian loosely. Is Rove an authoritarian? No, they are both neocons.

Eric Dondero said...

NO, it's just others use the term "libertarian" too tightly.

Good for Bill O'Reilly and Karl Rove, in you face birthers!

The only party that is desperate are the Republicans, but its to “kill the middle class”, they will lose!

Let me just say that Trump may just be “rattling the Birthers cages”, he can run or he may have grown accustomed to media attention this non-issue would create.

The current Republicans only know how to a) Start Wars not Win them (talk about no exit strategy), b) Fire more middle class worker, c) Deny middle class worker healthcare, d) Break unions. e) Take chice away from women, f) Act like they are not responsible for the financial collapse and the deficit, yup thats about it.

Our current President travelled under a USA passport long before he was elected President, but I guess the quacky BIRTHERS, must believe that the USCIS – United States Passport was in on the lie, please, grow up, you are wrong!

The Birthers just HATE and can’t debate!
Have any of the quacky BIRTHERS presented any credible proof that will standup in court? Answer: No
Have any of the quacky BIRTHERS won any Court Cases? Answer: No
They are just mainly backward, uneducated, white people who HATE our half black President.

The majority of the voting public ask “where the proof”, show some proof BIRTHERS or the voting majority will continue to see you as dumb, stupid or racist, maybe all three. Can you blame them?

Still, I really hope one of these retreads and blowhards runs for president, not because they have a chance of winning but because I like to see the train wreck that they will cause.

Dunno, Tom - this is the same "architect" that nearly lost us to Algore in 2000 with "compassionate conservatism" and proceeded to drive the GOP to stunning vic-, er, steady losses over the next eight years... A lot of us were tired of his Party First! RINOism by 2006. Karl rather crawled under the bus all on his own and it wasn't "quickly."

I'd like a decent explanation of his trashing Palin while waxing positive on Rand Paul - the two have tremendous respect and support of each other - yet if there's an ideological component to Rove's apparent dichotomy, what is it?

You remind us of another salient fact - Rove was in the Bush-RINO camp, not with the Goldwater crowd that elected Reagan.

The convergence of libertarians and fiscal conservatives that we call "Tea" drove the GOP in 2010 despite Rove, not because of him. The GOP owes more today to guys like Eric in the field than to Karl on TeeVee.

I find it a stretch to call Trump a libertarian. He's an opportunist chameleon. He's libertarian when it suits him, and statist when that's what works. I sure hope no real libertarians are getting fooled.

Trump as libertarian is laughable. He is an opportunist and a chameleon; libertarian when it suits him and statist when that's what works. I hope that real libertarians aren't fooled.

I guess to a puritanical "libertarian" Trump isn't really the real thing.

But there is something called a MAINSTREAM LIBERTARIAN. And Trump most assuredly fits that description.

KN@PPSTER said...

Trump's a welfare queen who can't balance his own budgets (four bankruptcies so far, IIRC), let alone anyone else's. His hairpiece is more qualified to be president than he is.

KN@PPSTER said...

R,

Like I said, "not apropos of his ideology."

Rove's a mechanic, and a damn good one.

He knew there was no motor powerful enough to carry Christine O'Donnell from Delaware to Capitol Hill, and he said so.

He knows there's no motor powerful enough to carry Trump (or any "birther") to the White House, and he says so.

You may not want your mechanic to tell you where you should go, but when your mechanic tells you "there's just nothing I can do to turn this lemon into a working car, no matter how fond you are of the Corinthian leather seats," it's just fucking silly to pout about it and call him names.

LR READERS TAKE NOTE:

Tom Knapp, a man who is bald and is missing more than a few teeth, is criticizing Donald Trump for having wild hair.

Hey Knapp, atleast the Donald has sense enough to go to a dentist.

excuse me? Donald Trump is no libertarian. He's liberal on social issues and liberal on economic issues. He's a Liberal

KN@PPSTER said...

Eric,

1) I'm not bald. I shave my head. There's a difference.

2) I'm not criticizing Trump for "having wild hair." I'm criticizing him for being a welfare queen, serial bankruptcy con man, and general buffoon.

Oh right, so now Donald Trump has become a "libertarian" Conservative. You truly are a slut in giving out the libertarian title, Eric. Really shameful.

Lofo said...

You truly are a slut

No he isn't. A slut would be Sarah Palin.

I'm a libertarian neo-con.

I believe in Democracy, Whiskey, Sexy everywhere.

I believe Iraq was a good first step. I believe what we are now seeing in the ME was in part a reaction to the turn of events in Iraq.

BTW good Gary Johnson article:

"Governor Veto" for President? Can such things be?

Lofo said...

A neo-con is the diametric opposite of libertarian.

Libertarians believe in individual freedom, while neocons follow an ideology of death, destruction, and forcing one's will on other cultures.

Uh-huh. Where have wee seen that before? YES! Reminds me of yours, lofo. How's your imam doing?

More, as an inarticulate lame-brain with misogyny issues, you're not in a position to call anyone "a slut."

Except maybe his mother and sister.

I don't have an imam. The fact that you think I do demonstrates that you know nothing about me, or about Islam.

Neoconservatives advocate war because they want to force their will on other cultures that they consider inferior. They successfully lied about Iraq having WMDs, so that they could blow up lots of Muslims (something which gives them lots of pleasure) and so they could install a pro-western puppet regime. Many neocons are racist, and support institutional Jewish supremacism in the Israeli settlements of the occupied territories. And don't you dare call me an anti-Semite, because I have nothing against Jews. But I do strongly oppose Kahanists and Zionist hacks that you'd find at AIPAC and the greater Israel lobby.

Luckily, I am a libertarian, not a neocon like you. I believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Neocons like you believe in death, destruction, and war. AND you guys believe in wacky conspiracies like the birther issue.

Ran, you are a nutcase and an idiot.

Now brakabama is a neocon too. hehe

Poor little loaf. Such a big world and so little understanding.
