A New #1 Free State?From Eric Dondero:
Free Staters will tell you that New Hampshire is the most "libertarian" State in the Country. But they may now have to fight for that title.
The Wyoming House of Reps just firmly rejected an attempt by Nanny-Staters to impose a primary offense standard for seat belt law violations.
From Casper Trib.com:
One Republican legislator gave primary offense seat belt laws a rather unique name. Continuing:A bill that would have increased the penalty for drivers who fail to buckle their seat belts failed in the Wyoming House on Tuesday.
The roll call vote on Senate File 51 was 35-21.
The bill would have increased the fine for failing to buckle up from $25 to $75.
Wyoming has a secondary seat belt law meaning drivers cannot be stopped solely for failing to buckle up, but can be cited if stopped for traffic violations.
Current law allows drivers who are stopped for traffic violations a $10 credit against their fine if they have buckled their seat belt.
Rep. Mark Semlek, R-Moorcroft, called the bill "nanny-gate" legislation and more government interference.Nanny-gate as in a gateway to ever increasing infringements on our individual liberties.

4 Bloviations:
The legislature also passed a constitutional carry measure. making us the 4th state in the country to have such a law (assuming the gov signs it).
I can't believe Wyoming House Rejects Tougher Seat Belt Law. I thought that was going to be the easiest law to pass because it makes sense to me.
Only an east coast liberal would want more regulation, a lawyer no less.
What are 10,000 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean called? A good start.
