From Eric Dondero: Andrew Ian Dodge is a regular reader and longtime supporter of this website. He's also one of the original members of the Maine Republican Liberty Caucus. He has been largely credited with the birth of the Tea Party movement in Maine.
Now Dodge has announced his candidacy for US Senate, challenging incumbent moderate Republican Olympia Snowe.
Dodge told LR:
Its going to be a fun run and a good opportunity to get across libertarian Republican ideas. From his campaign website:

Sen. Snowe has turned her back on her constituents; it’s time for us to return the favor. Unlike Sen. Snowe, I have been involved in the conservative movement for the last 25 years, and have been a tactical leader in the Tea Party movement. I live my life by the three core conservative values of Constitutionally limited government, free market and fiscal responsibility. As a Senator, I would judge any legislation that crossed my desk by those values alone.Interestingly, Dodge may not have full support of libertarian Republicans. Two movement libertarians have personal friendships and close working relationships with Senator Snowe. Gov. Paul LePage grew up with Snowe in Lewiston. The Senator was an early supporter of his race. And Dodge friend, ME RLC board member, and former state rep. Stravos Mendros of Lewiston, is supporting Sen. Snowe for reelection.
Editor's note - As with 99% of all endorsement decisions, this website will follow the lead of the Republican Liberty Caucus for this primary race.
