Radical Islamist-backed DREAM ACT goes down to Defeat in Senate

The Radical Islamist group Council for American Islamic Relations released the following statement on Friday (we wish not to link to CAIR):

CAIR ALERT: REMINDER: TELL YOUR SENATOR TO PASS THE DREAM ACT - TOP

(WASHINGTON, DC, 12/17/2010) -- CAIR is again calling on American Muslims and other people of conscience to urge their elected representatives to support the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, which may be voted on in the U.S. Senate on Saturday. The bill has already been passed in the House.

If the bipartisan bill becomes law it will create a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who came to the United States prior to their 16th birthday.

Immediate actions requested:

1) Contact your senators and ask them to vote in support of the DREAM Act.
2) Put your cell phone to good use. Call all of your friends and family members and ensure that they contact their elected officials.

The Act went down to defeat late Friday, by a vote of 55 to 41 (Vote on Cloture).

Note - 3 Republicans sided with CAIR - Murkowski, Lugar, and Voinivich. To their credit 5 Democrats voted with the vast majority of Republicans. Oddly, newly elected Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia was a no show on this crucial vote.
