Democrats on the defensive having to explain support for Socialized Health Care

Libertarian themes entering Republican attack ads

From Eric Dondero:

Washington-based Republicans are normally shy about labeling Democrats as outright Socialists. But as evidenced by this ad, the NRCC is now using explicitly hardline libertarian policy arguments to go after Democrat candidates.

Julie Lassa is Sean Duffy's Democrat opponent for Congress in Wisconsin. In the 2007 legislative session she was a prime sponsor of a bill to enact a Canadian-style "single-payer" system for the State.

From Politifact "Republican group says Julie Lassa pushed for a Canadian-style health care system in Wisconsin":
In testimony before a state Senate committee, Michael Tanner, an official with the Cato Institute, a libertarian group, said the plan "combines many aspects of a single-payer health care system with the central structure of a concept known as ‘managed competition.’"

This, he said, would almost inevitably reduce the availability of and access to care, and lead to a reduction in capital spending on health care.
Editor's comment - May have taken them a while. But glad to see Beltway Republicans are finally catching on.
