Sounding almost Churchillian, the former Prime Minister stated that Westerners needed to be vigilant and not back down in the face of the Islamic onslaught.

"This extremism is so deep that in the end they have to know that they're facing a stronger will than theirs."He also called Radical Islam:
"regressive, wicked and backward-looking".On the threat from Iran, he went on to say:
"There is the most enormous threat from the combination of this radical extreme movement and the fact that, if they could, they would use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons."

I think that Blair has only semi-awakened to the Islamist threat, hence his use of the term ‘radical Islam’ instead of the factually correct ‘applied Islam’ or ‘doctrinaire Islam’. His policies helped to fuel the Islamisation of the UK and gag critics of this process. He has failed to come to grips with the ideological essence of Islam, and thus is unable to recommend the domestic policies which are required to successfully tackle Islamist terror. Tom has a damned good question, and Duro a solid point: Blair, while partially right on the issue, is deflecting attention from the threat to liberty posed by his massive-government doctrines.
Statism of the corporatist Blair variety is, IMHO, a far more substantive threat to the West.
