Leftist Columnist for Massachussetts newspaper accuses Libertarian Party of advocating a return to Slavery

"Beating President Obama over the head with a socialist whip"

Clive McFarlane, a columnist for the Worcester Telegram in in Massachusetts has penned a long tirade against Glenn Beck, the Tea Party, and the Libertarian Party. It is titled "Tea partiers working for Libertarians." He accuses Glenn Beck and the Tea Party of being a "wolf in sheep's clothing," more or less fronting for the Libertarian Party. McFarlane says that Libertarians advocate a radical agenda, and that Beck and the Tea Party should come clean as to what that agenda means:
Instead of claiming that they want to restore traditional American values, they should just tell us that they want to eliminate mandatory schooling, as well as legalize prostitution, recreational drugs and suicide.

They should just say that they would like to abolish federal drug and seizure laws, and all laws at any level of government that require the registration of, or restriction on the ownership, manufacture, transfer or sale of firearms or ammunition.

Instead of beating President Obama over the head with their socialist whip, why don’t they just spell it out that they want to eliminate farming quotas and subsidies; eliminate the minimum wage; abolish the Internal Revenue Service, and with it all federal programs not required under the U.S. Constitution?

They should tell us they would end all personal and corporate income taxes; end Social Security; end social services for the needy; and abolish all federal regulatory agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Energy.
Beck, David Koch, and the Libertarian Party no better than Slave Owners

Then McFarlane accuses Libertarians of advocating a return to slavery. Continuing:
In fact, what scares many people, including yours truly, is that we would have to go back to the days of slavery to encounter any semblance of the America to which they want to retreat.

Nevertheless, if Mr. Beck and tea party members would take ownership of these policies, I would understand and rest easy. These positions are all platform planks of the Libertarian Party, which has been around since 1971.
McFarlane ends with a blast at former Libertarian Party Vice-Presidential candidate and oil company owner David Koch who he accuses of being one of the prime slave owners.
But instead of giving us the straight talk, tea party members are passing themselves off as a grass-roots organization working to crash Obama’s presidency and reboot with an earlier, romantic version of America.

The problem with that message is that the tea party is being bankrolled by two billionaire Libertarians, brothers Charles and David Koch. Their company, Koch Industries of Wichita, Kan., is a conglomerate, the annual revenues of which are estimated to be a hundred billion dollars, according to a recent New Yorker article by Jane Mayer. “The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama,” is a must-read for those trying to understand the evolution of the tea party...

“The brothers have funded opposition campaigns against so many Obama administration policies — from health care reform to the economic stimulus program — that, in political circles, their ideological network is known as ‘The Kochtopus.’
McFarlane, originally from Jamaica, is one of two columnists for the Metro section of the Telegram.

Sounds like a good start to me!

It's funny how the author assumes that the following would be a bad thing.

"eliminate farming quotas and subsidies; eliminate the minimum wage; abolish the Internal Revenue Service, and with it all federal programs not required under the U.S. Constitution"

It's funny how some in the libertarian movement have suggested in the past that we libertarians forget the Right and our conservative allies, and actually align ourselves with liberals.

Would we ever in a million years want to have anything to do with a liberal dipshit like this, who disdains every single aspect of our ideals?

Liberal? What is "liberal" about anything that brainless robot wrote? The guy is a slave. He has contempt for freedom and them who seek it.

Leftists are scum. Their motivations are evil. Their actions are barbaric. Their souls are rotten.

From the comments on this thread, it seems that the author of that article was absolutely right. The fact that Beck and his ilk are advocating a return to the point in this nation's history where slavery was indeed legal. Thankfully, the average American knows how ridiculous these people are.

Actually Bint, the average american agrees with them.

The Right Guy,

if the average American agreed with them, then all of the public schools would be empty, seniors would mailing back their SS checks every month, women wouldn't vote, and a person of color would never have become President. The idea of returning to "traditional American values" sounds good to some folks, but the majority of Americans have no desire to return to those days and their behavior proves it.
