Arizona's Prop. 107 would ban racial discrimination at colleges and for jobs

"Race has no place in the American life or law" -- Ward Connerly

Ward Connerly president of the American Civil Rights Institute (ACRI), spoke at a meeting of the Republican Women of Prescott, last week.

From the Prescott News, "Ward Connerly Addresses Prop 107 at RWOP Meeting" Sept. 5:
Proposition 107... prohibits preferential treatment or discrimination in state governmental institutions. You can read the language of Prop 107 here, it's only 2 pages long.

If Proposition 107 passes:
Students applying for college will be accepted (or not) based on merit, not skin color, sex or ethnicity

Contractors bidding on a project will win, or lose, based on the criteria for the project, not skin color, sex, or ethnicity

People applying for a job will get it if they have the right qualifications and skills - not simply because hiring them fills a quota
The bill to put the initiative on the ballot was sponsored by Rep. Steve Montenegro and Senator Russell Pearce.

Ditto Fourpoint! Affirmative action needs to go. It has defeated its own purpose Hiring anyone to meet a quota has only meant getting sub-standard workers and dragging everything down to their level, proving that they couldn't do a "good job" afterall. All it's done is make them look bad and everyone else suffer...

"Racial Discrimination" has become a trendy and convenient term to protest anything and everything when in reality, these are the very people to whom everything is handed. Take an HONEST look at our society! The only true "racism" you see is directed at light-skinned people and/or American citizens. Discrimination is still discrimination, whomever it's directed at. Let the lawsuits commence!

Hopefully this passes. My entire working life I've seen jobs and educational slots go to people with very poor grades or skill match simply because they were either a woman or a minority.

Try telling people that the white man is the new whipping boy for discrimination and see what reaction you get! I heard everything from "Yeah, right, the white man IS the one behind all the discrimination" to "its what white men deserve for the way they treated everyone else in the past..." For some reason, some people think that discriminating against a white man is okay, since its accepted practice these days, but in reality, its just another form of racial/gender discrimination...

Yes, let the lawsuits begin. What a waste of taxpayer money to have this garbage put to a vote. When women make a fraction of what their male counterparts make and the unemployment rate for minorities is five times higher than for whites, even a KKK member can face the fact that discrimination is alive and well in America and must be countered by Affirmative Action measures.
