Ground Zero Mosque issue moves to Center Stage for 2010 Elections

Republican candidates now asking, where do Democrats for Congress stand on GZ Mosque?

From Eric Dondero:

What might be the first video produced challenging a Democrat incumbent Congressman on the GZ Mosque. John Gomez, Republican for Congress, NY's 1st CD (Long Island) asks where does Steve Israel stand?

Interesting Sidenote - Gomez is Sean Hannity's best friend from childhood.

Eventually the state will dominate, but that is a different religion all together.

While I would take the piss as the brits say in regards to having it there, someone bought it with money and they have property rights as such. I don't agree with eminent domain. What I can't understand is why someone didn't try to out bid the muslims before the property was sold? We still live in a capitalist society (barely) and that would have been the best solution. Since no one thought of it or tried it, then it is what it is. As long as the usage doesn't violate existing zoning laws, there's nothing to be done, of course if you want to offer the organization enough money to sell it.

And what is the preferred religion of the state?

Right Guy,

That property sat on the market for years. If these protesters really thought that it was hallowed ground, they could have bought it and made it into a shrine or temple or statuary or whatever to the 9/11 victims. Instead, most of them are just a bunch of broke, lazy folks with too much time on their hands. Muslims put their money where their mouth is and got 'er done. I respect that kind of conviction.

Hell, if the protesters really felt that this property should be used in a different way, they could STILL put together the funds and offer to buy out the Cordoba folks, as you pointed out.

I guess it's easier to just whine.
