Mistake to say Marijuana Youth to vote DemocratCalifornia will have an initiative to fully legalize and tax marijuana on the November ballot.
Appearing on CNN yesterday, liberal blogger Jane Hamsher said the following:
"Polls show that they [young people] are much more likely to vote if marijuana legalization is on the ballot.Hamscher's blog is Firedog Lake.
I think it's a mistake to say that they're going to vote for Democrats because just as many of the youth are likely to be Republican Libertarians as they are Democrats..."

LOL - this is really true, but nobody wants to admit it for some reason. I lay most of the fault on the "social conservatives" that took over the Republican party in the late 1970s, and have been losing ground ever since (although they did help get Reagan elected). The Tea Parties are much more of a libertarian than social conservative movement - and I believe that there are more of those folks out there now than any other group. I think the Democrats understand this, and that is why they are doing things like playing the race card to try to discredit them. I think pot ought to be legal, and have for years. I used it during college quite a bit, but was a little to innocent in High School to use it. One of my friends in High School (circa 1972) was dubbed the "right wing doper" - and he was far from alone. I quit using it, for the most part, during my child rearing yesrs, and now I have a job that would keep me from using illegal substances. If it were legal, I probably would partake from time to time.
