Rand Paul wins! Victory for Tea Party, Libertarian Republicans

BREAKING NEWS!!

Final results:
Rand Paul - 59%

Trey Grayson - 36%
Reached for a comment on-scene at the Wayne County Courthouse in south central Kentucky, monitoring the returns, Wes Messamore, Webmaster for Libertarian Republican and Publisher of Humble Libertarian had this to say:
This is a spanking... This is an embarrassment for the establishment. This is a slap in the face to Mitch McConnell. Hey Mitch we don't like your politics. We don't like bail-outs. We don't like TARP. The Tea Party movement has won!
On the Democrats Messamore continued:
With [Jack] Conway winning [over more moderate Democrat Mongiardo] Obama and the Democrats will get trounced in November. He's the best the Rand Paul camp could hope for.

AWESOME PARTY TIME! Eric do you think beating Jack Conway is going to be easy or at least comfortable?

Well if Conway was the liberal candidate they'll lose. Now Paul looks like he'll win.

What about the 2 special elections?

Don't want to rain on your Parade Eric, especially one of the few times we are on the same side, but neophyte political observer me noticed that the Democratic candidate losing to Conway got a boatload more votes than Rand Paul. That can't be good.

Anonymous not at all

Most people knew Grayson was going to lose this thing so they didn't even bother going out. Why do you think the polls showed Paul beating Greyson 44 to 34 percent before this?

I sent money to Rand.

At last a victory for freedom . . . and the GOP did everything possible to prevent that victory.

It's good to see a true fiscal/political Libertarian win, but Rand Paul's positions on national security are extremely worrisome. Isolationism and weak law enforcement never work.

I'm sure the many terrorists around the world will be happy to see the end of the Patriot Act and preemptive military strategy.

Let's hope Paul changes his position on these too all important policies.

anon,

If you really believe that perpetual war and taking away our rights is good fiscal policy I don't think you belong as a libertarian. But I have some good news for you. The neocons and RINOS Trey and Mitch represent might be more willing to listen to your fiscal conservatism now that they got pasted. Sadly, for me, I know that they won't compromise on their Israel-first, sermon on the mount denier mentality.

Bob D,

I would not equate preemptive war with perpetual war. The primary function of government is law enforcement and national defense. I think all Libertarians can agree on that. We must always balance our belief in minimal government with our security needs. We need to be pragmatic.

Islamic extremist do not hate us only for our pro-Israel policies, but hate the way we live our lives. They believe that Islam should spread throughout the world. They cannot understand or participate in a free society. They are threatened by it and seek to destroy it. Middle Eastern dictators exploit these extremists to further their own national/regional interests. Ultimately, this leads to extremists like the Time Square Bomber, Underwear Bomber and the Shoe Bomber or even worse, 9/11.

Whether it is Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran or Pakistan we must eliminate the extremist or any regime that supports them. That is the only way we can prevent the fight from coming to our shores.

The Patriot Act has prevented several imminent attacks. Though I agree that this is a gray area, the act has saved lives and property.

the Patriot was politicized by the left, the fact is it mostly just gave Govt. same powers Law enforment already have in Criminal matters.

Take the Library scaremongering by the Paultards/Left: Its alot easier for a criminal investigation, without warrant, to seize your Library Records than it is for the Govt. under the Patriot Act. Yet long decided Criminal Procedure is not an issue to these 'libertarians', just neutering national defenses
