POLL SHOCKER FROM ZOGBY!! Democrats now backing away from Israel; Republicans overwhelmingly support Jewish State

92% of Republicans on Israel's side; only 42% of Democrats

From Eric Dondero:

In 2008, 78% of all American Jews voted for Barack Hussein Obama for President. Many of the 22% of Jews who voted against him, warned of a coming catastrophe in American foreign policy against Israel, if he were to be elected. The 22% have proven to be correct:
Obama administration pushback against Israeli warnings over the threat of an Iranian nuclear arsenal.

Benjamin Netanyahu insulted by Obama at a recent White House visit. Obama walked out of the room in the middle of their meeting, with the excuse, I'm going to have dinner "with Michele and the kids."

The very latest; threats by the US to vote "present" for the very first time, in the UN Security Council against Israel, in regards to calls to halt further Israeli housing in East Jerusalem.
And now this breaking news from Zogby:

The poll’s findings also highlight the deep partisan gap that continues to grow between Republicans and Democrats, with Democrats having an unfavorable rating of Israel for the first time.

•42% of Democrats had a favorable rating of Israel compared to 92% of Republicans resulting in a 50% gap between the parties.

•While the gap is higher in this poll, the finding is consistent with a recent Gallup poll that had 53% of Democrats with a favorable view compared to 80% of Republicans.
Will this help Republican candidates with the Jewish community heading into the November elections?

Despite repeated attempts, pollster John Zogby was unavailable to provide Libertarian Republican with a comment on this question.

However, Joe Sciarrino, Spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Comm. commented to LR:
"The United States has had a long-standing and strategic partnership with Israel, and over the past year we’ve seen this Administration neglect that relationship. Democrats in Congress who agree with this decision to alienate such a key ally may risk alienating voters come November.”

I am a Republican, and I am pro-Palestine.

I do not have a dog in the Middle East political viper pit. Let them settle their own problems between themselves. But as a neutral observer I find the American obsession over Israel fascinating.

The average American could care less about fighting in Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Zaire or Algeria. If the news is reported at all they yawn and change channels to the program showing the most cleavage. But if the news is about Israel suddenly everyone's panties are in a twist.

Very strange.

You can be Pro-Palestine, without being Pro-Palistinian terrorism.

Sure, they deserve their own country. But they don't deserve to kill Jews and invade Israeli territory.

Cicero, perhaps because Israel is the one libertarian-oriented democracy in the Middle East?

Pizza parlors, semi-nude beaches, movie cinemas, wild nightlife.

Compare that to burqa-obsessed societies that border Israel, and you have your answer as to why Americans root for Israel.

Sorry Eric. Pizza Hut has 32 locations in Cairo alone.

I think it is great that Israel exists. But on the other hand I also think it is great that Iceland exists. God Bless them all.

I am much more interested in the insane drug war in Mexico that anything happening in Greece, Iceland or Israel.

The Quran confirms the Torah and attacks the Talmud:

Jesus attacks the talmud:

Judaism = Talmud firsters

Catholcism, Protestanism = Trinity firsters

Sunni, Shia = Hadith firsters.

Torah, Gospel and Quran is from God.

Talmud, Trinity and Hadith is from man.

Who do you trust?

Most libertarians, while supportive of Israel, also don't think the U.S. should be so involved in its affairs. There is something unsettling about a "zionist" state that bases its "true" citizenship upon the race of the people. Very different from the American ideal that such things don't matter.

Regardless, the Republicans will not win many Jewish converts in the next election. Most American Jews are socially liberal/libertarian, and the Republicans have allowed the religious right to define that so much for their party that they have no hope of winning those demographics over.

Barry Goldwater warned us of this. He spoke often of how the religious right was hijacking the party and turning it away from its libertarian foundations.

I'm a libertarian and I'm pro-Phoenicia. There are dirty Arabs all over the ancestral homeland of the gentle Phoenician people and no one says squat about it.

Racists.

"Barry Goldwater warned us of this."

He then marched to irrelevancy.

No, he inspired a generation.

Its Phoenicians who live in Lebanon now. Actually a mix between them and ancient Cannanites and Philistines and Assyrians.

It became Arabic by adopting the language. Thats who people of the Levant do not look like Yemanites, the ethnic Arabs. Arabs are a language not an athnicity but the share common nomadic and semitic culture like Male domination, family clan rulers, sectarian identities and collective cultures.

Currently the Trinity firsters and Hadith firsters and Talmud firsters are fighting over there. But the Talmud firsters got America and its Western allies. So the Trinitirians are mad since the Hadith firsters represented by Hezbullah and Aran Nationalist have the support of many Arabs and Muslims placing Trinity firsters in a weak position.

Once achieving of the Talmud firsters was to mae America and its Western allies cater to its interest and not the Trinity firsters of Labanon.

But the same Lebanese who live in Lebanon today were the ones who lived there before.

And they smile as Syria stomps their heads with combat boots, because after all, at least they aren't dirty Jews.

I like how when Democrats discuss reasons to be pro-Israel, it never occurs to them that one could support Israel simply because it's the right thing to do. I think this springs from the way Israel is portrayed in left leaning media. If Israel bombs a "house," liberal media depicts Israel as arbitrarily bombing a house. Conservative media explains the antecedents which lead up to such a confrontation.

Then there's the curious contingent of Democrats who seem to think supporting Israel is the right thing to do, but that it's bad for the US, so we ought to stop. Well, if simple expediency from the point of view of US citizens is the concern here, why do we support Taiwan? Why get all involved in Darfur, we could be getting cheap oil there instead. And our support for the small baltic states wins us no friends in Russia...
