Pelosi says she now shares Tea Party "common values": Her GOP opponent John Dennis having an impact?

"The voices of the free market are going to stand up and fight for what it takes to preserve what this Republic is all about." -- John Dennis, Republican candidate for Congress, California CD 5

From Eric Dondero:

John Dennis is the the Republican nominee for US Congress against Nancy Pelosi. In over two decades in Congress, Pelosi has not yet faced a serious challenger. But in an increasingly favorable GOP year, even Pelosi's seat is starting to look a little soft for the Democrats.

So far, Dennis has been running a largely grass-roots oriented "stealth" campaign. But his extensive precinct walking, and door knocking maybe be eginning to have an impact.

Incredibly, over the weekend this news broke, from ABC News (via Memeo):

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she has much in common with the Tea Party. The speaker now says she shares views with movement she dismissed last summer as being “Astroturf” -- her suggestion that the grassroots of the Tea Party were a creation of the Republican Party.

In a “This Week” interview with ABC’s Elizabeth Vargas, Pelosi said, “We share some of the views of the Tea Partiers in terms of the role of special interest in Washington, D.C., as -- it just has to stop. And that's why I've fought the special interest, whether it's on energy, whether it's on health insurance, whether it's on pharmaceuticals and the rest.”
In a recent interview with Roger Hedgecok, Dennis said:
When we first started this I have to admit my goals and objectives were more modest than victory in a conventional sense. But back in December we all starting talking in the campaign, ya know, maybe we can do this, maybe we can pull this off. And then, then Scott Brown happened, and um, everything's changed since then.

We have a forumula as to what it's gonna take to defeat Nancy Pelosi, and we're gonna try to execute it.
From his website; Born in Jersey City, the son of a longshoreman, graduate of Fordham Univ. He is the founder of the San Francisco chapter of the Republican Liberty Caucus and currently the head of the Campaign for Liberty San Francisco.

John is a board member of the Republican Liberty Caucus California, has served as an alternate on the San Francisco Republican Central Committee and is a member of the National Rifle Association.

Editor's Comment - John Dennis does not share many of the foreign policy objectives of this website, nor of the Pro-Defense Libertarian movement on the whole. (We agree with him 100% on domestic matters!) However, Ms. Pelosi supports pro-defense even less. Given that this is San Francisco, we're willing to put our foreign policy differences aside and fully support Dennis for Congress!

Ronald Reagan is at fault with Pelosi trying to co-opt the tea party values. You see, "The Gipper" closed down many state hospitals when he was governor of California. As a result, crazies flooded the streets of San Francisco and Berkeley, turning them into urine smelling pathways. Had he cut budgets in another area of state spending, Pelosi may very well be interned at Napa or Mendocino State Hospital for the insane... which she rightly should be. ;)

That is so fucking laughable considering she probably also called them terrorists at some point.

****even Pelosi's seat is starting to look a little soft for the Democrats****

What a joke. This is the most liberal district going for Obama with 85.2% to McCain's 12.4% the rest going 3rd party. It is a waste of time to cover any "race" against her.

Hey Gary,
I wouldn't count John out just yet. His foreign policy ideals could play out well with the population there.

Gary said...

Don't get me wrong. I would love to see him win. But I can read the election numbers. In 2008 the Congressional Republican candidate got 9% of the vote.

Somebody is not telling the truth.

John Dennis is NOT the Republican Nominee for US Congress.

The California Primary which will determine who the Republican Nominee is to run against Nancy Pelosi is not until June.

In the meantime, John Dennis is running against Dana Walsh in the Republican Primary to determine who the Republican Nominee will be.

Dana Walsh is very strong on national defense issues in addition to domestic issues.

If you don't like John Dennis' non-interventionist foreign policy, which includes closing all U.S. military bases around the world, then you should explore the policies of Dana Walsh.

Dana Walsh's web site is:

Sierra, my mistake. Humble apologies. I had no idea John Dennis had an opponent. I'll check into her.

Gary, what do you think of Maryland? Hopelessly liberal, right? No chance Barbara Mikulski could be beat for reelection, right?

Wrong! New poll out shows her down to 54% to 36% against an un-named GOP challenger. Mikulski has never received less than 60% favorables.

If it can happen in Maryland, it can happen in California.

I believe that she once referred to Tea Partiers as Neo-Nazis.

Pelosi is from San Fransisco...America's commode. If she wasn't a scumbag lowlife, she never could have been elected in the first place. To compare any US state to San Fransisco is slander.

Thanks for the write up Mr. Dondero. Here's why I'm completely behind John Dennis -

Nancy Pelosi has never had a Republican challenger take more than 18% of the vote, and that was in 1994. Even Cindy Sheehan received more votes than Dana Walsh, the last Republican to go up against her in 2008. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California's_8th_congressional_district

It would seem that to have any chance of beating her at the ballot box would have to be preceded by a good chunk of Texas moving to San Francisco for a year. But listening to John Dennis in that Roger Hedgecock interview, and then learning that he has qualified for the ballot with more petition signatures from district voters than the San Francisco Republican Party has seen in over 30 years, this time could be different. I really believe his fired up volunteers are going to make the difference, they have been knocking on doors that haven't been knocked on in past campaigns.

Also, I believe that with traditional conservative Republican candidates running in the Statewide races and rural/suburban districts - along with the libertarian Republicans in urban areas long written off as too liberal to compete in, we can really build a winning coalition to take back America.

Even California has to wake up eventually and if they aren't awake now they never will be. I have faith the people of CA will know getting Pelosi out of office is a necessity. Times are different now than they have ever been and I have faith the people will kick her sorry butt out of office. I have never once heard that woman say anything that didn't sound like the rantings of an idiot. There is no way the other members of Congress are not laughing at her. She is an embarrassment to women everywhere.

Pelosi saying she shares Tea Party "common values" only proves my point. She is a raving nut case. I think someone has to remind her of her name each morning when she wakes up. She is so far removed from reality it is frightening.

Great stuff you have here Mr. Dondero - and you bet, I just added your site to my toolbar.

Yes, I understand this website is for finishing off the bankrupting of this country and against small government. You have much in common with Russia, China and Cuba in being for a large military. We need an oversize military to impoverish our country. Libertarian pretenders is what you are. You just want to continue the back in forth of what should be cut military vs domestic spending. You just want to argue about what to cut instead of taking the libertarian line and cutting spending in half. In other words, you're for more of ths same in Washington.

Chuck said...

"We need an oversize military to impoverish our country."

Yeah, the United States is an impoverished nation all right. Why? Well, because such an enormous portion of the Federal budget is "wasted" on an "oversize" military.

Fucking retards.

The Right Guy said...

Anonymoose:
Cut military spending? The military is an essential part of government. Things like the IRS, education, dept of commerce, and the fed are not. There's more money going down hidey holes for "domestic" spending than anything else.

As chuck said, we are not an impoverished country. If you want to avoid impoverishment, keep the government out of the economy.

I asked a very liberal friend of mine ( I do still have a few) about Pelosi vs Dennis. There was no hesitation in his answer: a vote for Dennis. So, I think that in this election, anything is possible.

There's a very strong anti-incumbent fever our there. If she lost her job, I would dance in the streets.

As far as National Defense goes, I agree that it is a Constitutional responsibility of the Federal Government. That being said; the question of international intervention and preemptive war is a valid one. That question also involves the Federal Government and Presidents exceeding their Constitutional limits. Also is this policy a good idea strategically? Especially considering the costs in lives and treasure.

By the way, vitriol is generally counterproductive. Especially when used in reply to those who share many of the same beliefs.

The Right Guy said...

No vitriol here.

I agree that the Government should stay out of the economy. That includes the disaster of Federal Mandates to the States that is bankrupting them. Also the manipulation of the economy by continued Federal Reserve actions has caused more damage than is commonly understood. The mentality behind all of this is one of ego and control.

The basis of capitalism is in decisions the individuals and organizations make. Failure is a key element in this equation. The Government has exceeded it's mandate by intervening in failure. The result is a build up of failures that is bringing down our nation. Success must not be punished but equally important is that failure must be allowed to happen. I don't know the people on this site, but I'm guessing we would all agree on this paragraph. I think it is important to stress areas of agreement, and agree to differ on details and on some issues without losing potential support on what we agree on.

To assume John Dennis is in favor of closing all military bases around the globe is blatantly false information. John Dennis said, and will say again, "I am in favor of closing military bases after they have given argument to their specific role in defending this country." Having said this, one cannot make the claim that John is authoritarian in any sense on this specific issue. WHY DONT YOU ALL JUST ASK JOHN, make your argument to him, and then make a comment on what you think he will do. Geez, as though Walsh is any kind of a person that actually listens to the people instead of the party. Yeah, right! Expect the best with John.

I am very glad that Dennis does not support your so-called "pro-defense" policies. I won't support a candidate who thinks that the war in Iraq was a good idea. Or who thinks we still need to waste money keeping troops in Japan 65 years after the war ended. Or who thinks we need to waste money in NATO 25 years after the Iron curtain came down. Two things are bankrupting us -- politicians buying votes by promising freebies from the government that we don't have the money to pay for, and supporting the needless American military empire. The Constitution does say the the federal government is to protect the various states from invasion. But the only country invading us is Mexico, and the cheap labor Republicans like McCain and Bush are all in favor of that. As for terrorism, if we had the same foreign policy as Switzerland we would have about the same amount of trouble from terrorists that they get.

Bob said...

Sierra, you are correct that John Dennis still has to win the Republican primary against Dana Walsh. And since Dana Walsh is all in favor of spending my money on a vast unnecessary military empire, I'm all in favor of Dennis. Dennis is a very long shot against Pelosi in San Francisco's very blue district. But Walsh doesn't have any chance at all.

I dont care if the nominee that runs against pilosi is the turd from the punch bowl, it will get my vote of this self righteous commie bitch who only understands the washington game and no longer identifies with the rest of us. This poor misguided bitch thinks she understands the poor, the immigrants, and the working class when she has never held a job in the private sector and has never been poor. Hell, she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. the only thing she knows is how to pay lip service to san francisco left wingers and she doesn't even do that very well. At seventy how the hell can she even think she identifies with anyone in the job market when her generation has been retired for ten yrs. She is just and evil bitch that gives a mean head job with her dentures out - how else could a woman control the house the way she does. This woman has no shame and probably she have been an actor except she has no talent or beauty.
