The city population is 480,000. The metro area includes nearly 1.1 million inhabitants.
On March 3, the Dutch libertarian party (PVV - Party For Freedom) could become the second largest party in the municipality.
The Dutch News, Feb. 27:The PVV is tipped to emerge as the biggest party in Almere and second biggest in the Hague.Wilders was campaigning last week in Almere emphasizing pride in distinctly Dutch culture and strong opposition to Muslim women wearing the burqa in government buildings and at government-subsidized events.

Not just the Netherlands but all of Europe will look to Almere.'Almere is a planned city in the central Netherlands with 184,000 residents. Both The Hague and Almere have been plagued by an influx of illegal immigration in recent years from Turkey and the Middle East.

A friend of mine lived in Holland for a few years and told me that the Dutch actually have more regulations with regards to foreigners, in particular muslims than do France or the UK. He's a big Geert Wilders fan, and sees the Dutch turning this around. I am not sure how that will play out as the EU and it's liberal constituent countries are doing everything to make their destruction possible. Unfortunately the replacement is not palatable to say the least. I wish Geert well.
I met a guy once on an Amtrak train from El Paso to San Diego who was touring the US from the Netherlands. Nice guy. But he told me he spent most of his time in Thailand, even though he had an apartment subsidized by the Dutch government in the middle of an Islamic Ghetto.
The Dutch government actually pays him a salary of about $800 a month to keep the apartment and to "technically" live there.
They want real Dutch citizens living in these Muslim ghettos so as to moderate them away from radical Islam.
So, he didn't even have to work, at all. Just collected his subsidy every month, and spent it on chics in Thailand. Every 3 months he'd come home for a 3-day stay at his apartment, and that was it.
Can you imagine the American government doing the same?
Subsidizing real Americans to live, in say Dearborn, Michigan or Minneapolis, or the westside of Philadelphia, Camden or Newark, NJ?

And that is the difference between Europe and the US. Even though you support what you call libertarians in Europe, in reality, they are middle of the road democrats. Europe is so far to the left that it's impossible to judge someone by labels we use here. In the K, Sharia is legal. In France, they let the scum burn other people's personal property. In Spain, they do nothing when they blow up their trains and kill hundreds. In fact they pull out an allied force against the enemy.
Europeans are feckless because one, they haven't had real freedom, ever. America is the first and probably only exception to the rule in this world. Two, they've been run over by every invader since before the vikings and romans. Grabbing ankle is second nature. Of course there were exceptions, like Charles Martel, and Churchill, but for the most part, any Europeans that worth their salt went to America for opportunity and because they weren't risk averse farm animals. Believe it or not, we got the best, and that's how it usually has been. When we forget the concept of American Exceptionalism, and fall prey to moral equivocation like Europe has, we are done and will don the yoke of farm animals.
A IMPORTANT POINT
The Netherlands has something called DEMOCRACY with proportional representation. Wilders' PVV party got 6% of the vote in the last election earning 9 seats in Parliament.
Proportional representation allows small parties to present their case to the voters and serve in government based on their support with the voting public.
Our moranic system of monster super-sized mega districts prevents candidates with different points of view from holding office. In the USA only millionaires or those bought and paid for by corrupt special interest money can win office.
And that is why the Netherlands is in such fantastic shape!!
In case Chuck missed it. The U.S. has a one party dictatorship right now.
What proportional representation does is allow FAIR representation without gerrymandering or tricks. If a party gets 40% of the vote they get 40% on the legislative seats. No games. But fairness went out of American Federal elections 150 years ago.
