Iran - the Revolution continues...

There are various reports that a major political figure in the Iranian leadership has turned on the ruling Mullahs, and is now backing the Revolution.

More to come...

The Middle East Media Research Center (MEMRC) is breaking the story...

On the eve of Iran's annual Qods (Jerusalem) Day, September 18, 2009, which traditionally features mass demonstrations held by the regime, senior Iranian dissident cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Hossein Montazeri (photo below) called on all senior clerics in Iran's major cities - Qom, Mashhad, Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, and others (and also in Iraq's holy Shi'ite cities Najaf and Karbala), to come out openly against the regime and to use their influence to restore the power to the people.
Also, grainy night video of a violent protest in the City of Qom. View it at Iran News Now. According to the source, the Youth Protesters are chanting:

“Coup Government, Resign, Resign!”

“God is Great!”

“Political Prisoners must be freed!”

Iran News Digest is reporting that Ayatollah Hashemi-Rafsanjani is now threatening to resign from all government posts, if arrests of government opponents continue.

I have to admit there is something strangely alluring about a woman dressed in a bag.

Low blow. Very low blow Chuck. About very serious subject matter.

Offering you a chance to retract.

While I take offense at ccoffer's statement, I think Persian women are hot!!

Eric Dondero said...

Sure, Persian women are hot. Now, let's just all hope and pray they have the chance to show their hotness and throw off the repressive regime that has a boot on their necks.

Thanks for following this. A nuclear-brandishing sharia-state is NOT the sort one wants as a neighbor, especially when they're hopping into bed with Castro and Chavez. We do not want the Mahdist set playing with whithery toys. They will fry New York, or worse, an American city. (Please! Just a dig at the NY Times...)

Mike Ledeen has been following this too, quite closely, for years.

Yeah, Chuck, our extremist pals over there officially view women as valued one-half that of a man. Screw what Naomi Wolfe says about "sexy" cover-ups, it's about official de-personalization, reducing women to mere chattel.

There's a much more modern and civilized Iran waiting to emerge. All the help we can give 'em.

Eric, what the hell are you talking about? There was nothing derogatory in what I wrote. Quite the contrary.

Are you defending the honor of bags?

If you're referring to ahem just a handbag... :-]

Eric, please censor ccoffer's comment. Its really offensive and he is obviously not going to remove it.

ccoffer said...

Yeah. Whatever "anonymous" said.

Eric and all y'all,
To what in my originally posted thought do you object? I'm not interested in a debate since I've already said all there is to say by way of opinion....but Dude,WTF?
