Crist adds Jennifer Caroll to the Short ListSources indicate that Governor Charlie Crist will decide by next Friday who the Interim Senator for Florida will be to finish out the term of Sen. Mel Martinez. A short list has emerged, of 3 or 4 names. One of the names happens to be a GOP Rising Star: Rep. Jennifer Caroll, the first Black Female ever elected to the Florida Legislature as a Republican.
Her bio is quite impressive, and varied, from an American Legion and NRA member, former local Young Republicans Chair to NAACP Lifetime member. Rep. Carroll was born in Trinidad, West Indies.

Very impressive resume! I think she'd be an excellent choice.
If she were to finish the term and decide to run for a full term, do you think Crist would still decide to run for the seat in light of her qualifications? It seems his chances would be iffy under those circumstances.
Appointed Senators are often defeated. A special election is the best way to go for any state. Crisy should appoint a senior GOP "seat-holder" such as a retired Congressman etc.
Crist will no doubt get a personal pledge from whomever he appoints to step aside.
And if that person were to break that pledge, they'd be toast with the electorate.
I'm really pulling for Ms. Carroll. How utterly historic it would be.
Really Charlie, how could you not appoint her???
