Republican pick-up for 2010 in of all States - Mass?New poll numbers out of Mass. indicate that incumbent Democrat Gov. Deval Patrick is in serious trouble. From Rasmussen:
When matched against Christy Mihos, the Democratic governor picks up 40% of the vote and trails the potential GOP nominee by a single point.Mihos was an Independent candidate for Governor in 2006 and received a respectable 7%.
He's been described as a "fiscal conservative with near-Libertarian social views," and scores Moderate/Libertarian/Liberal on Vote Match (OntheIssues.com)
One potential downside for Mihos: He's been plagued with health issues, including a bout with cancer.
Meanwhile, Patrick has his lowest approvals ever. The same poll has him at 43% approval, with a stunningly large 57% disapproval rating.

Patrick must have really screwed up considering how low the bar is set with the Kennedys.
And you'd think that he could continue to ride Obama's coattails by being another young, smooth talking black politician with no substance. I mean his speeches are supposedly so good that Obama, the great orator himself, steals from them. I guess we truly have achieved a post-racial society!

****"fiscal conservative with near-Libertarian social views," ****
This sounds OK when compared to the normal Liberal Republican and Democratic Parties. But a REAL Libertarian wants to reduce government programs and the taxes that support them. These so-called "Libertarian Republicans" only want to manage the existing programs . . . not to reduce them or the taxes that support them.
So when it comes right down to it you might as well vote Democrat. At least then you get the real thing, not a pale copy.
Dan,
"And you'd think that he could continue to ride Obama's coattails by being another young, smooth talking black politician with no substance."
Try not to choke on all of that hater-ade.
"I guess we truly have achieved a post-racial society!"
The funny thing is, it's only people like you who were claiming that the election of Obama was ushering in some "post-racial" era. Until your generation dies out there's no reason to believe that's even a possibility.
Hire,
"his speeches are supposedly so good that Obama, the great orator himself, steals from them."
What makes this so funny is the fact that it is white people who first fell in love with Obama and his oratory skills. Instead of addressing the fact that it was white people who voted him into office, you'd rather whine and complain about black people. I guess that fact is just too painful for racists like y'all.
Christy ran unsuccessfully as an independent last time around (Patrick got >50% in a 3-way race). People assume that Patrick will get challenged by a fellow Dem if he stays this unpopular. With blood in the water, Christy might even have to fight for the GOP nomination.
Christy’s a libertarian-leaning populist who plays by his own rules. The Chardonay-sippers might not like him, but I think he has a shot if enough “joe the plumbers” turn out.
Great read!
