Like "Stalinist Russia"The government is stealing my business... This is still America, I think. I mean, this isn't Stalinist Russia. This is not Nazi Germany where the troopers say you're out and their buddies are in. That's what I'm faced with." -- Jim Anderer, Chrysler Dealership, Long Island, NY (Neal Cavuto's show on Fox News)
An on-line researcher for DirectorBlue at blogspot, has uncovered some interesting information in regards to which Chrysler Dealerships are being closed down, and which ones are to remain.
According to the tipster on the Blog:
To quickly review the situation, I took all dealer owners whose names appeared more than once in the list. And, of those who contributed to political campaigns, every single one had donated almost exclusively to GOP candidates. While this isn't an exhaustive review, it does have some ominous implications if it can be verified. Here's a list of the Top 10 donors:
• Vernon G. Buchanan: $147,450 to GOP candidates and organizationsOf course, Vern Buchanan is a Republican Congressman from the Tampa Bay area. Robert Archer is the son of former Republican Congressman Bill Archer. John Culberson, a libertarian-leaning Conservative, is now the Congressman for that West Houston District. He was heavily supported in his election efforts by the Archers Family.
• Wallace D. Alley and Family: $4,500 to GOP.
• Robert Archer: $4,600 to GOP and conservative causes.
• Homer S. Higginbotham and Family: $2950 to GOP.
• James Auffenberg and Family: $28,000 to GOP; $6,000 to one Democrat candidate.
• Michael Maroone and Family: $60,000 to GOP; $8,500 to two Democrat candidates.
• Jerome Fader: $6,500 to Democrats; $2,500 to Independent Joe Lieberman.
• Stephen Fay and Family: $13,500 to GOP.
• William Numrich: $20,000 to GOP.
• Robert Carver: $10,000 to Democrats including $1,950 to Hillary Clinton, nothing to Obama.
Additionally, James Crowley, owner of a Chrysler Dealership in Escondido, California is on the list to be closed. Crowley is a big backer of libertarian-leaning Republican Cong. John Campbell of Orange County.
Ron Paul's top funder is on the Targetted ListRon Paul supporters may be interested to note that further down the list, Ray Huffines' name appears: Ray Huffines and Family: $18,500 to GOP. He is the son of Hard Right Gold Bug and longtime Paul supporter Donald Huffines (photo). The Huffines Family have been supporters of Ron Paul since his Libertarian Presidential run in 1988. More recently, Huffines made 4 contributions to the Committee to Re-Elect Ron Paul, and Ron Paul's other Campaigns of $2300 each in 2007/08. He also contributed to Ron Paul's friend Murray Sabrin in New Jersey for his Governor's race of $2300. (Source: Watchdog.net) The Huffines sprawling Dealership in Metro-Dallas/Ft. Worth is on the list to be closed down by Chrysler.
Fred Barber, owner of 9 Chrysler Dealerships throughout Utah, had this to say:
"Was there any rhyme or reason to why certain dealerships were selected and others not? What's next for the targeted dealerships, and what will be the ripple effects?Developing Story...
This is as close to socialism as I've seen — we've got the government running the automotive industry."

The question isn't really just the political leanings of those that are closing, but of those that are remaining open.
If those people fall to the Democrat/Obama side, THEN this becomes a story.
But Vicki, by the records they are already Pro-Democrat/Obama, with just a tiny handful of exceptions. And those exceptions were of Joe Lieberman supporters and Hillary supporters.
It's Rahm the Knife at work here. He's got the list. And he's checking it twice.
if we are going 3rd world Banana Republic, Whackings come back into play.
I'd not start with Obama though, start with Soros
Obama is FDR, but in black. For he is using the economy and government to target his enemies.
He is stacking the courts, using the IRS as a weapon, and pushing progressive policies.
Yep,we are becoming,as one commenter stated, a third rate banana republic.
Yup Eric, I fully agree, this is Rahm's work. Acorn probably does some research for them into the donors for all the GOP candidates, which is easily possible, though with time consuming work. It is actually not really socialism, as they are in bed with the big companies, more like fascism, with a socialization of SME companies, while the big companies enjoy all the advantages of crony capitalism or bailouts or the benefits of socialism for the rich and capitalism for the SME and middle class. They know they can erode the GOP's revenue stream in this way effectively.
They do this all very discreetly, without much notice and step by step. I believe this will only be the beginning. They have it all worked out before. The economic crisis gives them the perfect time to misuse to perpetrate their crimes. And Rahm is an IDC and he made millions as investment banker earlier and his brother has Hollywood connections again. Chicago politics hmmm.
Gotta get an effective strategy to combat this.
They are well aware of the "backlash" in 1968, 1994 etc. and they want to desperately avoid that, they are dreaming of 40 years rule. Last year Obama already received the most from the super rich, so they have them in their bag and they are treated with bailouts, while promises to the poor as voterbase are being made. Call it "African democracy".
They are targeting a few Democrats, to make it seem non-partisan, but it is all a bluff, it people that also has given to Republicans or first to Democrats, but then switched over to Republicans, like this man:• Stanley Graff: $2,200 to John Edwards (2008 Presidential Run); $500 to GOP.
Note there is not only contributor to Obama, or first to another D candidate and then to Obama.
this is how Civil Wars get started
You may have something here. Two, not one but two Chrysler dealerships owned by the same republican backing owner in our area are on the list to be closed. I know personally that the owner backs republican candidates.
The Chrysler dealer nearest this area that isn't on the list is a democrat (and I wouldn't buy a car from him before this let alone let his mechanics touch my Dodge).
Eric,
This is Big News.
Stacy McCain... could we amp the volume over at TAS? My guest blogger status folded with Daimnation! blog.
This deserves to be screamed from the rooftops.
[Damn. Not to sound humorous here: I never expected to see that day when my purchase of a used Acura would feel patriotic.]
Jonathan likes wars and torture? And he calls himself a Christian? Hmmm what should I know, according to him there was a bloodless, or was that with blood coup and I must be living under Shariah law now, and working as an Al Qaeda agent?
Of course! This is Rahm's plan and Obama approved it. Take down as many businesses as they can and screw the entire Nation. Are we on the grounds for a Civil War? Yes we are. And why are they doing this so quickly? Especially passing and spending over$11T? Because they know that they will loose in 2010 and 2012.

Oh come on. These dealerships are getting shut down because the company filed bankruptcy. Not because of politics. They should have done this in the beginning anyway instead of taking taxpayer money that didn't do anything but throw more debt on that US debt pile. Speaking of which, this is Chrysler's 2nd bailout from the government. Their first one was back in 1979 I think. My question is, will we get our money back?
Eric,
Malkin is pointing out that it's too early to call a systematic targeting.
It's here.
OOOhhhhh! Thanks for the Malkin insight! WOW! I knew that there were some GOP that were sleezy, but I didn't think they'd do something like this.

I find it quite disturbing that these dealers, who invested hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in Chrysler are getting being axed with no monetary compensation yet the union workers, who have not invested a singled dime in Chryser, are walking away with $25000 car vouchers and buyouts starting at $75000. I would love for someone to explain to me how that is fair.
Vern Buchanan is not the only member of Congress with a background in the auto industry.
Politico’s Anne Schroeder Mullins wrote a piece this week about how Buchanan, R-Longboat Key, is one of three members who owned car dealerships before running for Congress.
