Notice which way the deficit was going (A) prior to the Democrats’ takeover of Congress and (b) subsequent to the Democrats’ complete takeover of the federal government.
Step 2. Assume the deficit subsequently falls to only twice as much as it used to be before you quadrupled it.
Step 3. Compare the assumed future deficits to your first deficit.
Bush was actually bringing the deficit numbers down before Pelosi & crew took over control of Congress. But of course, you won't hear that from the folks in the mainstream media.
Note - Dr. Thies is a professor of Economics at Shenandoah University in Virginia specializing in statistics and metrics. He is also a former National Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus, and National Committee member of the Libertarian Party.

While I agree with you that the Democrats have created a massive deficit and the Obama administration is actually trying to do that to create more historic moments to put in the books, Bush did a heck of a lot of unnecessary spending as well. While I love the military and believe in protecting our nation where it needs it, Iraq wasn't a place where this was taking place. While I do not believe in any wars in priniciple, if the few billion a month we spent in Iraq instead went to Afghanistan, or even half of it, there would have been a better outcome, and this would have been over a long time ago. A few billion bollars a month is just that- a few billion dollars a month saved.

You really should educate yourself before throwing up erroneous information such as the graph. There was no surplus under Clinton. It is a myth.
Yes Danielle, Bush did a lot of unnecessary spending, so did Clinton, so did Bush 41 etc.,etc., the point of the artical is that the current resident has dwarfted those numbers within a matter of months. Iraq did us a lot more good that throwing a few hundred billion at the hoax that is man made global warming, at least it was good training for the troops.
But then we shouldn't be to harsh on his "O"liness, after all, he was for a smaller budget before he was for a larger budget and now is for a smaller budget again. He just tries to see "all sides" of a situation.
Excusing this guy because of what W did is like watching your house being washed away by a flood and complaining that the plumber never did get that leaky faucet fixed.

In my mind, all that money we spent in Iraq to overthrow Saddam was well worth every penny, just for the revenge factor alone.
