One wonders how the Anti-Torture set, particularly the reliably leftwing Amnesty International will react?

Hmmmm... I'm coming to believe that the left is blindly against all things Christian. The evangelicals are backing Israel. So, the liberal left must "repaint" Islam as a "religion of peace" and they must recast Hamas and Gaza as "the victims" of Israel. Facts are irrelevant. The battle must be waged against all things Christian. Why?? Perhaps because they are gripped by evil.

You are evidently unfamiliar with Christianity outside of your little bubble. The Palestinian Christians support the Muslims who are currently the victims of Israel's genocidal campaign. Of course, since many so-called "evangelical Christians" have no clue about what goes on with Christianity in other countries, they remain blind to this fact.
Here's a little tidbit of information for you and a question to match it:
Arafat used to attend Christmas mass in Jerusalem every year until the Israelis stopped allowing him to do so. When was the last time you saw Israel's Prime Minister attending these church services? If Israel is just so friendly to Christianity, why are the Christians there being persecuted by them?
By the way, Jesus was a liberal. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, if need be.
