Michael Steele loves Puppies

Blast from the Past

Rewind to the 2006 Senatorial campaign in Maryland. This Michael Steele for US Senate ad - known as the "Puppie ad" - was a hit throughout Maryland, and caught on nationwide on YouTube. If you've never seen it, it's an absolute must view. Perhaps one of the greatest political ads ever run by any candidate of either major party.

Steele ended up losing that campaign 55 to 45% to Democrat Ben Cardin. One of the reasons for his loss, was ultra-liberal media bias by the States' two leading newspapers, who relentless attacked him. They even referred to him as an "Uncle Tom."

Fast forward to 2009:

One of the newspapers that was so highly critical of Steele - the Baltimore Examiner - just went out of business. And Michael Steele?

He just got elected National Chairman of the Republican Party.

Oh, and just for the record, Republicans love Puppies. -- ED

I would love to see him run against Brakabama. It would be hilarious to see the left's reaction.

Eric,

One of the reasons for his loss, was ultra-liberal media bias by the States' two leading newspapers, who relentless attacked him.

Of course, his loss couldn't just be the result of the fact that Marylanders didn't like what he had to say, right? If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

That was adorable. I loved it. And it had a great message about getting DC under control. I think DC is the problem... NOT a solution.

He seems really likable. I'm looking forward to learning more about him. He and Palin are starting to "sell me" on the Republican Party.

The ultra-liberal media bias always sucks! They there racist and always "selling" on black people. I am happy that Steele make it as a charman or the GOP and I wish him the best.

I'd love to see him run against Obama too...Steele would get crushed.
He's is the Palin mode...
Camera friendly.
Works well with a script, not so well without one.
Has a moderate veneer but actually has far, far right beliefs seriously out of step with mainstream American values.
Disingenuous and deceptive (circulated flyers suggesting that he is a Democrat).
