Former Commander of the USS Cole blasts Obama administration decision to close down Gitmo

Obama making policy based on liberal legal advocay groups

In late 2000, the USS Cole was attacked in the Port of Yemen, by Muslim extremists connected with Al Qaeda. 17 US Sailors were killed. Democrat President Bill Clinton ordered no retaliatory strikes. The incident was viewed by the Clinton administration, as largely a legal and diplomatic matter.

Now, the former Commander of the Cole Kirk Lippold is seriously calling into question the Obama administrations decision to close down Gitmo, and transfer detainees to prisons on the US mainland. He blasted the Obama administration for making policy decisions based solely on protests from liberal "legal advocacy groups" and ignoring the wishes of the families of the dead US Sailors.

From the Miami Herald, Jan. 30:

"I don't think we should close Guantanamo Bay until we have some process in place, until we understand the impact of closing it, until there is a much more robust review by the international community on how to deal with these detainees," he said. "To bring them to the U.S. and give them the same constitutional rights that we as American citizens have earned is an affront to the decency of these families and should absolutely not be allowed."
Lippold went on to say:

"We should consider what is best for the American people, which is not to jeopardize those who are fighting the war on terror — or even more adversely impact the families who have already suffered loses as a result of the war."
Note - One of the Gitmo detainess is the man responsible for the Cole attack, Saudi Arabian Abd el Rahim al Nashiri.

Evidently, the American people disagree with his view of what is in our best interests.

Evidently, leftwing America-hating Americans disagree with his views. Others, such as those who support the Military, Veterans, Families of 9/11 victims, and most certainly the Families of the dead Sailors on the Cole, agree with the Commander.

If the majority of Americans agreed with his views, then why did the candidate who vowed to close Gitmo get elected? Clearly, those who agree with the Commander aren't nearly as many in number as those who disagree.

McCain also vowed to close it, shitstick.

cchoad,

Obviously the American people were savvy enough to recognize that McCain wouldn't actually do it. How long are you going to sit around all butthurt because your candidate lost, choad?

Well Bint, if they are such a non-threatening bunch of misunderstood people I'm sure you'd be happy to house them in your local jail.
As for the arguement that we violated the geneva convention with holding them, last time I took a military law class that convention only applies to uniformed enemy combatants, which does not include any of those cuddly misunderstood Islamic terrorists at Gitmo. If they are not a danger to anyone why are no other countries that are critical of Gitmo stepping up to take these loveable characters.
Personally I vote for sending them all to the local jail in Nancy Pelosi's district or to the Cook County lockup where the Obamamessiahs friends will take care of them, since they are just freedom fighters according to Bill Ayers.
As for Juanita McVain vowing to close it he was just a RINO anyway. He stood for nothing that true Republicans agreed with. He now is as Rush says just a B.O. Republican.

Swede,
It is doubtful it will be closed at all. Brakabama has already said it will be a year out. Were he serious, he could do it in 48 hours.

Brakabama is not stupid enough to actually do the ridiculous shit he campaigned on. That was just for the consumption of half-wits like Bent Alambama.

Sure. That would be fine with me. Is there some reason why you thought I'd object?

Have fun building that straw man argument. When you're done, feel free to argue with me about something I've actually said.

I'd be okay with that, too. A significant amount of Americans have been seeking to have Gitmo closed for quite a while now. If you don't think it should be closed down, then lobby your government just as they did.

His approval numbers show that people mostly approve of the steps he's taking.

Hahaha! If your father had even half a wit he'd have used a condom and flushed your DNA down the toilet.

I would like to see men and women like Lippold serving their country in politics after serving us in the armed forces. I hope Lippold will consider running for office since he seems to care about our nation - and actually served - and believes that Obama and leftists are not caring for the USA's best interest.

This nation is so left under Obama - the Congress is already so out of control with this stimulus package - and shutting down Gitmo, etc., etc. already... I don't see how this nation can possibly remain one. I just don't see it.

bint,

You're just whiny.

Grace,
Bent can't help being stupid. Her behavior is perfectly normal. When intellectually deficient people get into arguments with their betters they behave exactly like Bent. Better to learn from it, than be offended.

As opposed to the Christ-like behavior you exhibit, right? Does the Bible teach that some people are better than others?

bint,

some people behave better than others - and some people show less true wisdom than others.

you think you are smart. you are just very ignorant, imo. ignorance is a bad attitude.

you have a very bad attitude. are you muslim?? you appear to hate everyone. that's what that religion teaches.

Grace,

bint, some people behave better than others - and some people show less true wisdom than others.

Nevertheless, the Bible teaches that no one on Earth is better than anyone else. You may prefer one person's behavior over that of another person, but that doesn't change that fact. On the other hand, we can definitely hold up someone's behavior and see how closely it matches up with Jesus'. If you're going to behave in a way that Jesus did not, then you're not a Christian and you're lying every time you call yourself that.

you think you are smart.

Actually, YOU think I'm very smart. It's apparent from how you've come up with this idea despite the fact that I don't go around making claims about whatever intelligence I possess. I let people like you do that for me.

you are just very ignorant, imo. ignorance is a bad attitude.

In my opinion, your whininess and lack of personal responsibility are signs of how pathetic you are.

are you muslim??

Are you? You're certainly not a Christian!

you appear to hate everyone.

I don't hate everyone. I love my daughter, my partner, my cats, my siblings, my parents, my in-laws, and lots of other folks. I just have a severe disdain for whiny, irrational hypocrites.

that's what that religion teaches.

Once again, you just can't stop yourself from showing how ignorant and under-educated you are.

You don't know anything about the Bible, Bent Alabama. You have already proven that beyond the shadow of any doubt. My being able to recognize the glaring truth that you are a piece of shit liar doesn't violate any principles of Christianity.

Come back when you know what the hell you're talking about.

bint alshamsa said...

cchoad,

Tsk, tsk!! Did Jesus use language like that, Cchoad? Not in the Bible!! You are definitely not anything like Christ no matter how much you've convinced yourself otherwise.

ccoffer said...

Yes. He did. Jesus had no kind words for unrepentant liars such as yourself. Had you ever cracked a Bible, you might know something about that.

bint alshamsa said...

cchoad,

the only people that Jesus spoke to harshly were those who went around hypocritically bragging about their religiosity and moral authority--the people like YOU. Of course, even then he didn't use the sort of language that you do. Where in the Bible does Jesus call people simians and tell people about the appearance of his feces? Maybe you're using a different edition from the ones I have so feel free to cite your source. I'd be especially interested in seeing if you can back up your claim.

I'm betting you won't be able to. I'll apologize for everything I've ever said about you if you can show where Jesus said these things.
